When I painted Astral Seer, I wanted the eye to feel as though it belonged inside the night sky rather than simply sitting in front of it.
I began with the swirling background, using deep blue, indigo, violet, and lavender to create movement around the center. The curved brushstrokes made the sky feel almost like a galaxy turning slowly around the eye.
The eye became the strongest focal point. I used bright turquoise and blue in the iris so it would remain clear against the purple background. The black pupil and small white highlights helped it feel watchful and alive without becoming harsh.
I surrounded the eye with small gold diamond shapes because I wanted them to act like a protective halo. The warm gold also gave me a strong contrast against all the cool blues and purples.
The two crescent moons and scattered stars helped extend the celestial theme across the entire painting. I varied the stars in size and shape so the sky would feel lively without becoming too regular.
Near the bottom, I added a group of blue and violet crystals. Their sharp geometric shapes contrast with the curved galaxy and soft foliage, and the bright edges help them feel illuminated by the surrounding starlight.
The mushroom was important because it brought the cosmic design back into the enchanted woodland world I enjoy painting. I gave it a purple cap and warm golden stem so it would stand apart from the darker background.
The small leaves around the crystals and mushroom helped connect the lower details into one scene. I used both turquoise and violet so the foliage would repeat the colors found in the eye, galaxy, and crystals.
Working at the 5 × 7 size meant I had to choose which details mattered most. I wanted the painting to feel full and magical, but I did not want the stars, moons, crystals, and foliage to overpower the central eye.
To me, Astral Seer represents intuition and the ability to notice what is hidden beneath the surface. The eye looks outward, but it can also be understood as a symbol of looking inward and trusting your own perception.
This painting is connected to Celestial Guardian, but it has a darker and more cosmic personality. Celestial Guardian feels decorative and protective, while Astral Seer feels mysterious, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the stars.

My hope is that this painting brings its future owner a feeling of guidance, curiosity, and confidence in their own inner vision.
